The Powervamp airshow support division is one of the most dynamic parts within the company, offering an unparalleled international service.
The division is made up of service engineers, production operatives and graduates and takes to each airshow a massive collective ‘pool’ of experience and product knowledge to deal with even the most unexpected of situations that can arise when under pressure.
The team have worked together for a number of years and have gained extensive experience from many successful shows including Paris, Singapore, Marrakech, Geneva, Farnborough and RIAT to name but a few.
“…real challenges present themselves when last minute changes take place on the static display area.”
With a number of key responsibilities including equipment availability, general logistics, aircraft power calculations and reserve equipment for additional orders or swap out, the team can be put under considerable pressure to ensure they meet the customer expectations.
Cable runs are also factored into the work schedule for both the PV45 and PV90-3 400Hz frequency converters as well as the numerous air-conditioning units and portable 28V DC power supplies also being provided. However, the real challenges present themselves when last minute changes take place on the static display area.
“…(Powervamp) provide clean, silent, environmentally friendly ground power at the airshows…”
For example, a minor aircraft re-location can result in an additional 100m cable run being required to re-route it around walkways or other aircraft – this is where experience, additional equipment and a cool head all come into play.
Powervamp works closely with the major airframe manufacturers such as Boeing, Airbus, Embraer, Pilatus, BAE and Qatar to provide clean, silent, environmentally friendly ground power at the airshows to ensure all electrical systems, including the cockpit aviation suite, are kept running smoothly.
The airshow support team pride themselves on the service provided, and with repeat airshow contracts being awarded to Powervamp, its clear that as the only manufacturer of this type of equipment with a rental division and the ability to support it with engineers with extensive product knowledge – the company offers an unparalleled service.
