Powervamp Wins ‘Legendary’ Aviation Contract
Press Release

Powervamp has won the unique contract to supply power to one of the oldest and most prestigious international shows in the world – attracting global leaders, politicians and probably the largest investors on the planet.

With its main offices and factory in Weston-super-Mare and Luton, Powervamp – with its cutting-edge manufacturing – has again been awarded the contract to provide power to all aircraft on display in the static area at the prestigious 2015 Paris International Air Show in June.  This year’s show will be the 7th time Powervamp has been awarded the contract.

The company designs and manufactures solid state aircraft frequency converters and other power products for various sectors including automotive, aviation and the built environment and exports to over sixty countries around the world. It counts customers as diverse as 10 Downing Street, Jaguar Landrover, and major airports including Heathrow, London City, Birmingham, Bristol and Dublin.

At the Paris Air Show, held from June 15 to June 21 at Le Bourget airport to the north of the city, Powervamp will ensure aircraft from around the world receive constant power so industry buyers from major airlines and selected visitors can inspect the planes.

Over 2,115 international exhibitors and 139,000 trade visitors from all over the world are expected to attend the event, which spans several acres. Visitors to the show will also be able to watch aircraft performing daily flying displays, as well as being exhibited in the dedicated static park.

‘To be the main provider of ground power is a major coup, not just for us as a company but for British engineering and manufacturing’

Richard Roller, who is joint Managing Director of Powervamp, comments: “There is only one show like this in the world. The pressure is intense. With the larger Airframe manufacturers investing millions of dollars on their presence for the sole purpose of displaying and selling billions of dollars of aircraft, the slightest problem has to have an instant response from our engineering team who are on constant standby.

“To be the main provider of ground power is a major coup, not just for us as a company but for British engineering and manufacturing. Of course we get to showcasing our products powering the latest aircraft which will include the Airbus A350 , the Boeing 787 and the long awaited Bombardier C series regional jet. Very few companies can deliver this level of technical support.”

‘Through winning major deals such as the Paris Air Show, Powervamp has become recognised as one of the UK’s foremost power providers’

The event is the world’s largest and oldest air show and was established in 1909. Presidents, prime ministers and royalty are regular guests and one of the major purposes of the events is to demonstrate military and civilian aircraft to potential customers. Major aircraft sales contracts are often withheld, only to be announced by manufacturers during the show.

Through winning major deals such as the Paris Air Show, Powervamp has become recognised as one of the UK’s foremost power providers. Recently the company also saw its contract to keep the lights on at Downing Street renewed.
