Powervamp is pleased to announce a successful first year of trading with Chivas Brothers. The parent company, Pernod Ricard, is one of the largest providers of distilled beverages worldwide including brands such as Jameson, Beefeater, Absolute Vodka and Chivas Regal. Chivas has installed a number of units from Powervamp’s EF5 ELI range to back up their emergency lighting within the numerous whisky warehouses at their sites.

Should the mains electricity fail within a warehouse, the emergency lighting central battery system cuts in automatically. Under UK law, there is an obligation for public buildings to be equipped with this facility. Not only must the lighting be restored seamlessly at the first sign of a problem; the emergency system must also be able to maintain an acceptable lux level (brightness) for long enough to allow people to leave the premises safely. In most cases this is likely to be either one hour or three hours.
Since their first order in the summer of 2014, Chivas has ordered 53 x EF5 ELI units of which the largest single order placed during this time was for their Balgray Bond site in Beith near Glasgow where 18 units were installed.

This site is being expanded along with several other distilleries in the Glasgow area as part of a country-wide development scheme within the distillery industry in Scotland. With Powervamp’s EF5 ELI range offering a significant cost saving over the previous supplier, this new-found relationship came at the right time as there is further expansion expected over the coming months and years.
The other Chivas owned sites under development include Willowyard, Dalmuir, Airdrie Bond and the world renowned Beefeater site in London. This new business with Chivas can be added to that of the long standing relationship Powervamp has with the Macallan Distillery. Powervamp’s distillery résumé has now been further enhanced with distilleries such as Glenturret, Glenrothes and Loch Lomond also choosing Powervamp for their emergency lighting requirements.
