Powervamp

PRESS RELEASE

In a move to streamline production while simultaneously bringing all design and engineering functions under one roof, Powervamp Ltd is relocating all Weston-super-Mare production to its Barton-le-Clay site just outside Luton. The move, which follows impressive growth in Powervamp’s airport and aviation frequency converter business and a growing demand for its emergency lighting converter products, is expected to be completed before the year end.

The Barton-le-Clay factory which has quadrupled in size during the past 4 years, now covers almost 20,000 sq feet of production space.

A statement issued by joint MD’s Richard Roller and Ken Walker stated:

“Having seen Powervamp grow from start-up to its present size in 22 years of business in Weston-Super-Mare, it is indeed a sad occasion and an obvious shock to our workforce that we have announced the transfer of all production to Barton-Le-Clay.  However, the market has changed hugely in that time and the company needs to react to the trends and competitive environment which exists today. Our emphasis at Barton is on advanced electronics and engineering services which is the future for the company”.

“While clearly an extremely difficult time for our employees, a number of jobs will remain at the company’s administrative HQ in Weston-Super-Mare where Powervamp will maintain a sales and service operation.”
