The Powervamp Coolspool 29 started the turbines 3 times and still had a significant amount of reserve power
One such customer that recently benefitted from a demonstration, was Helisav, a major helicopter operator based at Concon Airfield. Concon spans an area of 76.0 km2 (29 sq miles) and is located on the Pacific coast north of Reñaca. Helisav use their helicopters for a variety of different work including fighting forest fires and agricultural duties and have clocked up an impressive 30,000 hrs of flying time.

The customer was unsure as to which ground power unit to choose, so a demonstration was arranged on a Bell 212 UH-1H helicopter at a private helipad on an avocado plantation in La Tetera – Quillota.
The demonstration took place with a Coolspool 17 and Coolspool 29 – both are lightweight 26V DC or 28V DC aircraft start units fitted with high powered sealed lead acid AGM batteries, solid-start voltmeters and are also cleared for air-transportation.

The Pilots from Helisav were genuinely astonished at the compact size of both ground power units. They were even more surprised when the smaller of the 2 units, the Coolspool17, started the turbine 3 times in a row.

The Coolspool 29 easily started the turbine 3 times too, but still had a considerable amount of power left within the cells for further starts on a single charge.
It was this feature, as well as the portability of ground power unit that eventually convinced the pilots that the Coolspool 29 was best suited to their application, and orders were placed soon after.
